Bachetti and Hoffman Finally Return To Victory Lane
Saturday May 30, 2009

Not a cloud in the sky meant a clear night of racing action at the legendary Valley of Speed. Alarms of Berkshire County and Benjamin Moore Paints presented the night with a special Kids Party that started the night by opening the gates to the kids for an extended meet and greet with their favorite drivers.
Once the pits were cleared and the dust had settled, it was time to get down to the racing with the 30 lap Modified Feature taking to the high speed high banks. On the point was the #77J of J.C . Flach as he took the field into turn one. As the field rounded turn 2, the caution flew as the leaders made contact and Flach began to slow. As a result, slowing cars on the backstretch also made contact with each other causing a multi-car incident.
Once the track was cleared, it was back to racing. On the point now was the #55K of Mike King with Steve Hough in tow. But the third place car, the #115 of Kenny Tremont Jr, was more interested in being out front instead of following.
And by lap 3, Tremont took the lead and charged away from King. Hot on their heals, the wild child, Andy Bachetti, was making is way to the front for a shot at Tremont. Another caution flew by lap 8 for the #87X of Paul Gilardi exploding a right rear tire going down the backstretch.
On the next restart, Tremont still had the point with Bachetti in tow. As the leaders exited turn 2, Tremont slowed and Bachetti powered by to take over the lead. Tremont turned pitside with a broken rear axle, but later returned a few laps down.
But Bachetti was out front and in control of the field. A late race run by Eddie Marshall, and a red flag with just 2 laps to go for the #07 of Tim Kerr as he made his way over the turn 4 wall and through the catch fence, wasn’t going to keep Bachetti from Victory Lane. At he checkers Bachetti stole the show with Marshall settling for 2nd. Steve Hough held on for 3rd, with Guy Sheldon and Mark Flach Jr. completing the top 5.
The night of racing action was not over yet as the Accord LVS Budget Sportsman Shootout Series took to the high banks. David Hinch and Jake Jelley were on the front row of the 17 car field to the green flag. Hinsch was out front hold the field at bay, but charging through the field was the #11 Don Miller as he made his way to the front and into the lead by lap 7.
Miller needed nothing else but for the Kokosa Oil Inc Lap counter to tick off the laps. As the checkered flag flew, it was Miller capturing his first win of 2009, 2nd was Scott Duell, Angelo DiCarlo and Joe Carnibucci completed the top 5.
The regular Saturday night Sportsman class had their 20 lap feature event. At the green the #12 of Brian Sandstedt and the #16 of Kyle Hoffman were off and running. But before lap 2, Hoffman took over the top spot. And Hoffman was gone.
The #98 of Kolby Schroder and Alan Houghtaling #250 were hot on the heals of the #16, but they weren’t gonna get a chance to see the checkers first, as Hoffman pulled away and took the win.
Following Hoffman was Schroder, Houghtaling, Chad Pierce was 4th and Danny Sanchez settled for 5th.
The Pro Stocks saw Kevin Arnold take control of the field early as well and pull away from the field for his 1st win of 2009. Don Carlson, Robbie Speed, Jay Casey, and Paul LaRochelle completed the top 5.
Cord Becker scored his 4th win in the Limited Pro Stock class. The Pure Stocks were also on tap for their 3 race, 8 lap feature events. And the winners were: Rob Partridge Jr in PS#1, Lloyd Tomlin in PS#2, and Ed Hatch captured PS#3.
Next Saturday Night is a special Abele Tractor and Greylock FCU 100 lap Modified Super DirtCar Series event. All the cars and stars of the Super DirtCar Series will be on tap for this 100 lap shootout. All classes will be on tap for feature events only except for the modifieds.
